Marble
Bianco Carrara
The best-known Italian marble in the world: a pearl-white ground crossed by fine, evenly spaced grey veins.

Travertine · Italy
Sedimentary rock with open porosity: the material of the Colosseum — warm and deeply tactile.
Full-height bathroom cladding and a built-in tub, vein-cut travertine, honed finish
The slabs
Eighteen selections, from the Tivoli and Rapolano basins to the Sardinian, Turkish and Persian ones, photographed in the same scene at the same scale. With travertine the size is not the variable: the block decides the slab, and every supplier quotes the same range, 200×100 to 305×178 cm. What changes is the colour and the cut — with the bed the figure comes out as cloud, against it as parallel stripes.

300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The coolest of the family: an almost white ground with fine grey striping, cut against the bed. Turkish, and the one to choose when the travertine has to sit beside white materials without warming the room.
Request this selection: Travertino Bianco
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A very pale Roman selection: an ivory ground with soft undulating veining and small, sparse cavities. Cut against the bed it gives the most delicate figure in the range.
Request this selection: Travertino Alabastrino
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The most uniform Roman selection after Alabastrino: a pale cream ground, dense even striping and very few cavities. Over large areas it is the travertine that matches best slab after slab.
Request this selection: Travertino Navona
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
Roman Classico in its palest, steadiest selection: the same bank, less contrast between the bands and sparser cavities. Specified when the Classico would read as too busy.
Request this selection: Travertino Romano Classico Extra
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The pale version of Turkish Striato: a warm cream ground with striping barely drawn. Quieter than the Roman Classico, warmer than the Bianco.
Request this selection: Travertino Striato Light
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
Cut with the bed rather than against it: the figure comes out as cloud rather than stripe, soft and without direction. A cool cream ground and fine grain — the travertine that imposes no laying direction.
Request this selection: Travertino Onda Marina
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The travertine: the stone of the Colosseum and of via della Conciliazione. A warm hazel ground, sharp horizontal banding and open cavities that can be left unfilled or resin-filled.
Request this selection: Travertino Romano Classico
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The Roman stone in its straw selection: the Classico’s figure on a yellower ground, with elongated cavities clearly readable along the bands.
Request this selection: Travertino Paglierino
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
Cut with the bed and left unfilled: the most tactile travertine of the range, the one to choose when the porosity is meant to be part of the design rather than a defect to close.
Request this selection: Travertino Sardo
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A full golden yellow, with large irregular cavities that stay visible under a honed finish. Persian, and the warmest travertine on the market.
Request this selection: Travertino Giallo
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The Tuscan travertine: a honey ground with pronounced brown and grey banding, darker and more animated than the Roman. Historically the stone of Sienese architecture.
Request this selection: Travertino di Rapolano
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The brown selection of the Roman basin: a dark hazel ground with paler banding. Not to be confused with Turkish Walnut, which is darker and more contrasted.
Request this selection: Travertino Noce
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The Turkish walnut: chocolate brown with caramel banding and pale veins running through it. Darker than the Roman Noce — the travertine for a wall that has to carry weight.
Request this selection: Travertino Walnut
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A grey ground with a green note and dense, even striping: the Turkish selection that made travertine a contemporary material. Always worked against the bed.
Request this selection: Travertino Striato
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A warm taupe-grey with darker banding: the best-selling of the grey travertines. Cut almost exclusively against the bed, because that is the cut that gives it the regular striping it is chosen for.
Request this selection: Travertino Silver
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
Sits between Silver and Silver Dark: a grey ground with a brown note and pronounced banding. Warmer than a pure grey, quieter than a walnut.
Request this selection: Travertino Titanium
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The dark selection of the greys: a deep taupe ground with sharp, almost black banding. Over a large continuous surface it is the travertine with the most character.
Request this selection: Travertino Silver Dark
300 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A bright brick red with darker banding and golden cavities: Persian, and the rarest and most theatrical travertine there is. Used as a feature piece, not by the square metre.
Request this selection: Travertino RossoTravertine is the stone of Roman architecture, from the Colosseum to the great works of the twentieth century. It is a sedimentary rock with open porosity: the cavities can be left unfilled, for a tactile, raw surface, or resin-filled and honed for a continuous plane. The cut decides the figure more than the colour does: with the bed it gives a soft, directionless cloud; against the bed, the parallel striping that brought travertine back into fashion. Across the Tivoli and Rapolano basins, Sardinia, Turkey and Persia the range runs from an almost cool white to brick red: eighteen selections, all formed in exactly the same way.
How the finish changes the stone
Installed
Stone changes with the surface it covers: on a continuous wall the figure reads in full, on a floor you walk across it. These are reference settings.

Reference renderings, not Eurostone supplies: they show the material in place, not a completed project.
