The limestone of the Asiago Plateau, in ivory white and in pink: the checkerboard of historic Venetian floors.

The slabs
The plateau's two shades, photographed in the same setting at the same scale. With Perlino the size is small by nature: quarry beds are 40-70 cm high and rarely exceed a metre, so blocks are medium-sized and slabs are sawn parallel to the bedding. 240 × 120 cm is a typical slab, not a catalogue limit — the actual lot is confirmed at quotation stage.

240 × 120 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A warm ivory white of very fine grain, with the odd fine vein a shade darker. Also known as Biancone or Bianco Asiago. It is the pale half of the historic Venetian checkerboard floor: set against the Rosa, it gives the pattern of the palaces of Verona, Padua and Venice.

240 × 120 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A warm pink ground of fine grain, speckled and crossed by dark grey veins. Also known as Perlino Rosato or Rosa Asiago. The pink changes from bed to bed, from coral to pastel: the slab that arrives is the one from the available lot, chosen at quotation stage.
Request this selection: Rosa PerlinoPerlino is a compact micritic limestone quarried on the Asiago Plateau, in the province of Vicenza: very fine grain, almost no porosity, in two shades — Bianco, a warm ivory, and Rosa, which runs from coral to pastel from one bed to the next. Laid as a checkerboard they are the historic floor of Verona, Padua, Venice and Milan. Two things worth knowing before ordering. The quarry beds are low, 40-70 cm, and the blocks medium-sized: slabs are smaller than those of other marbles, and are almost always sawn parallel to the bedding. And the quarries are at altitude: in winter they are under snow and production stops, so large supplies are scheduled for the summer. It is an interior material; outdoors, only bush-hammered or sandblasted. There is also an «Agglo Rosa Perlino», which is an industrial agglomerate: this is quarried stone.
How the finish changes the stone
Installed
Stone changes with the surface it covers: on a continuous wall the figure reads in full, on a floor you walk across it. These are reference settings.

Reference renderings, not Eurostone supplies: they show the material in place, not a completed project.
