Bianco Carrara
The best-known Italian marble in the world: a pearl-white ground crossed by fine, evenly spaced grey veins.

A pale ground crossed by sharp red threads: a graphic pattern, almost drawn by hand.

The slabs
Two selections of the same stone, photographed in the same scene at the same scale. With Filetto Rosso the size is not the variable — the block decides the slab, and at Apricena it reaches 315×170 cm, giving slabs 100-120 cm high — but the selection is: many slabs come out pale and sparsely threaded at the top and more veined at the bottom, and in the sawmill they are cut apart. Chiaro and Classico are the two sides of that cut.

300 × 115 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
Filetto Rosso with almost none of the filetto: a pale cream ground with only a few faint pinkish threads. It is what the upper part of the bed gives, and it is the selection for large areas, where a marked figure becomes unmanageable.

The figure the material is named for: a cream ground crossed by fine, continuous rust-red threads that run horizontally from one end of the slab to the other. This is the selection for book-matching, because the thread carries on from one slab into the next.
Request this selection: Filetto Rosso ClassicoFiletto Rosso is the limestone of the Apricena and Lesina basin in which a cream ground is crossed by fine, sharp, continuous rust-red threads: a graphic figure, almost drawn by hand, that no other Italian stone has. The trade calls it «Trani Filetto Rosso» — Trani is the historic name Apulian stone travels under, not the quarry. The figure works better the larger the surface, because the thread carries on from one slab into the next: this is the material for book-matching. The bed gives it in different grades, from almost bare to veined, and they are cut apart in the sawmill.
How the finish changes the stone
Installed
Stone changes with the surface it covers: on a continuous wall the figure reads in full, on a floor you walk across it. These are reference settings.

Reference renderings, not Eurostone supplies: they show the material in place, not a completed project.
