The blue-grey of the Apuan Alps, from the dark bands of Classico to the light cloudings of Nuvolato: restrained elegance, never showy.

The slabs
Three Apuan Bardiglios photographed in the same setting at the same scale: Classico with its dark bands, Nuvolato, and Imperiale, the lightest. Sizes are those of real lots on the market: all three varieties come from large blocks and give slabs of around three metres.

282 × 170 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
The Bardiglio of the Apuan tradition: a mid grey with darker bands rising like flames and light, cloud-like areas. It is the most widespread variety, the one the literature calls common Bardiglio, and is quarried in almost every Apuan basin, from Carrara to Seravezza and Stazzema.

295 × 175 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A blue-grey ground with light patches and white veins running diagonally, like an overcast sky: it is the most requested Bardiglio. It is quarried in the Carrara and Versilia basins, and the pattern varies widely from block to block, from pearl grey to lead grey: for walls it is also supplied book-matched.
Request this selection: Bardiglio Nuvolato
280 × 160 cm2 cm and 3 cm thick
A light blue-grey with soft diagonal shading and a dense network of fine dark grey veins: the brightest and most even of the three. It is quarried at Carrara and is the traditional partner of Carrara white in checkerboard floors.
Request this selection: Bardiglio ImperialeBardiglio is the grey marble of the Apuan Alps: it is quarried in the same basins as Carrara and Versilia white marble, and owes its blue-grey to tiny pyrite crystals scattered through the calcite. The name comes from the Spanish pardillo, “greyish”. The varieties differ in pattern: Classico is a mid grey crossed by darker bands, Nuvolato has light patches and white veins that recall an overcast sky, Imperiale is a light blue-grey run through by a network of fine veins. Restrained and compact, it is the classic counterpoint to Carrara white in checkerboard floors, and is used for floors, stairs, bathrooms and cladding.
How the finish changes the stone
Installed
Stone changes with the surface it covers: on a continuous wall the figure reads in full, on a floor you walk across it. These are reference settings.

Reference renderings, not Eurostone supplies: they show the material in place, not a completed project.
